Christmas Celebration in EI/VRC
Christmas is a very special time for small children. It is not just about decorations and gifts, but about joy, togetherness, and the excitement of being part of something magical. Every activity — from making ornaments to singing carols — helps children feel the spirit of the season and creates memories they will cherish.
We began by preparing festive decorations, a cheerful “Happy Christmas” name board, a handmade crib, and a bright Christmas tree. Special sensory gifts were chosen for the children, and gift bags were packed with care.
Children took part in making hangings shaped like trees, stars, balls, gifts, and bells using colorful charts. A circular name board was created to welcome everyone. The crib was built with bamboo sticks, cardboard, and charts, while the Christmas tree was decorated with lights, balls, and bells. The children enjoyed exploring the decorations through sight and touch.
For gifts, we selected items that would bring sensory delight — flashing spiky balls, party poppers, and rainbow magic springs. To make the gifts even more special, paper bags were crafted using Christmas‑themed wrappers.
The celebration was filled with music and joy. The team practised carols and sang carols in both Tamil and English with the children. Their happiness was clear as they enjoyed the songs, dances, and surprises, making the day truly memorable.

Let the beauty of what you Love, be what you do.
December started with a BIG Bang – continuous rains the first few days of the month, with school being closed for the students. Luckily December 6th, Saturday was a bright day for the Bazaar for which the whole building of Sharada had been prepared to receive our friends, relatives and well-wishers – young and old.
December Bazaar 2025 – An event to experience:
Every year in The December Bazaar, we at KLC try to bring in an experience of just not selling the products made by our students and trainees of V-Excel, but also a feeling of what we do, how we work, what the students go through in their day at KLC . We were happy that this was sensed - that feeling of calm in the environment 🤗. That was the beginning and the most important thing. This Bazaar could not have happened without all our Chennai units – EI/VRC, VTU and YES, apart from KLC staff, coming together. A BIG thank you to them.
Products made by the students and trainees from almost all V-Excel units were displayed and sold. Highlight and a moment of satisfaction was when we had a room full of existing and ex- KLC student counters selling their products. Preethi Ravali's, Sreya and Vidya's, Varsha's, Sai Kishan's, Advaith's Amma's products. “Thank you for encouraging Sai Kishan, it was a very good experience. I wish he had come. The response was good. Thank you all🙏”
Experiential activities like – palm basket weaving, chakki flour grinding, foot massage, painting, play therapy room, OT room games, the calm of the Temple, the Felting activity were hugely popular with the visitors, and many tried them and enjoyed them. This was the soul of the Bazaar as intended.
The whole team of EI/VRC, who devised 14 games which were interesting, enjoyable, some which needed a lot of thinking, and dexterity of eye hand coordination. Everyone enjoyed the experience and found some games challenging. The children loved it.
The Food counter with a steady list of delicious food items from 11 am till 7 pm was a big hit with the visitors.
Feedback:
Dear V-Excel team! Congratulations on such a beautiful celebration of love, passion, joy, skills and dedication all manifested in such beautiful creations and space called the Bazaar 😍! The Rangolis were amazing words fail me to describe the liveliness of those pictures! Vasant, you have magic in your fingers! The most striking was the warmth of all V-Excel family from the entrance to wherever you went! Vasudha, it was great to hear you sing in a quiet temple space! The products this year felt had more creativity, depth, and quiet standing! Loved meeting Sathya at the weaving section proudly displaying the new cane baskets and said yes it was a hard work 😍!! Loved the candles, the VTU bags and saree covers and other things in stitching sections! I wish I had more time to be around soaking the relaxed warmth and yummy food :))) I loved the community spirit of old, new and the regular blending seamlessly! Amazing always to be greeted so warmly by everyone! Kudos to all the elves working tirelessly invisibly through months of work through sunshine and rains ❤️! And lots of love to all of you and children to let us experience this Christmas spirit!
It was a great day. Weaving and grinding put me in a mood for exploration. So went around taking in the beauty of the rangolis and the decorations on every floor. The games were amazing, the product range so good with good finish and the food was yummy. I missed the calm music room as well as the relaxing art room due to my own hurry. Maha and Priya ensured that I sat in the Tiruvannamalai cave to experience silence. Thank you both. All together it was truly a special December Bazaar, celebrating the 25th year.👏👏
Inclusive Art Fest 2025 – Nandavanam
On 9th December, at the Open-Air Theatre of Madras School of Social Work, Egmore, students and staff of KLC enjoyed the activities of the Inclusive Art Fest 2025, where they tried their hands at painting, fun zone, art and craft creation and watched the cultural activities. Thank you Nandavanam for giving this opportunity to our students.
December Tarangs – A Fund Raiser and a Conscious Endeavour
On December 13th at 8.30 am (IST), an online pre-recorded Tarang with Santhosh, Samanvitha, Vigneswar, Shri Hari and Vishwas offering some melodious retro songs to the audience who logged in from all over the world premiered on YouTube. This was a fundraiser for V-Excel from the staunch supporters of Tarang and V-Excel over the last few years since the pandemic. Thank you for your support and we are grateful to Usha Suresh for organising this.
On 18th December, Thursday a group of young student artists from the US, keen to perform for our students and trainees amidst their busy schedule, performed to a packed audience at Sharada. The songs were familiar, loved by the children, and enjoyed by everyone. Thank you, Harini, Bhavani, and Arnav, for your commitment to our students.
The Hectic Last Week of the Term:
We at KLC thought about bringing a different kind of Christmas this year for the students – a time for loving, giving, saying thank you and spending time with family and friends.
A Unique Christmas Tree:
It started with an unusual selection of a tree to be decorated as a Christmas Tree by the students. We selected a tall living plant / tree from our own school garden, and the students decorated it on the 15th accompanied by singing of Carols by the teachers and students.
Giving of Christmas gifts to other classes
On 16th, handmade Christmas gifts made by the students and teachers of each class were given to the other classes / grades, as they went around singing carols in groups. This is a tradition that is followed every year. The season of giving.
Acknowledging and thanking:
As mentioned in our December Bazaar note, this event would not have been possible without the collective help of all the Chenai V-Excel units – EI/VRC, VTU and YES apart from Aparna, the Admin and Support Staff teams, who gave their full support before, throughout the day and after. In keeping with the Christmas spirit, we invited them to KLC on 17th, Wednesday and offered out thanks and gratitude in being with us and for us. We also offered them the experience of walking the Advent circle, with Neha singing Christmas Carols.
Culmination of the Term – 19th December:
“Hope is Born” - a Christmas Play by the students and teachers of KLC, for which the practice happened in the last 2 weeks, was performed for the select audience of the parents of the students. The story, script, music, narrations, costumes, props, were all made in-house. This was a simple, but a deep play enacted by the students.
Advent for the Parents:
The play was followed by an Advent circle movement for the parents who had come to watch the play. It was done in silence and with reverence by everyone who was there, parents and siblings of the students.
Sharing and giving - A Christmas Feast - Pot Luck Lunch for the parents:
Vegetable Rice, Tomato Rice, Raita, Sarkarai Pongal, Curd rice, Potato Chips, Pickles and Raw Banana sabzi was the potluck menu organised for the parents on 19th Friday. There were many eager mother’s hands that lent their culinary skills in bringing these dishes to be shared. Lunch was a happy, sumptuous, calm experience where they shared stories, got to know each other, and had a good time. There were requests for more such occasions to meet and share to be organised by the school. Thank you to all those who helped us to make this day and occasion a good experience.
Christmas gifts to students of every class made by the teachers:
Every student and trainee in KLC got the same gift, made by their teachers, - a group of elves holding hands around a candle. The term closed when these gifts were given to them, and a fond farewell said for the holidays to come.
KLC will remain closed for the Christmas holidays until January 1st. Wishing all of you a “Very Happy New Year of 2026”, may it be filled with lots of love, happiness, joy, peace and health. Wishes from all of us at KLC.

International Day of Persons with Disabilities
On the occasion of International Day of Persons with Disabilities✨, V-Excel Educational Trust, Solapur, celebrated the spirit of inclusion through two meaningful initiatives a ‘Young Athletes’ program and a neighbourhood awareness outreach on 3rd December.
The Young Athletes Program, designed for children aged 3 to 7 years, was inaugurated by our esteemed Chief Guests Mr. Prashant Pawar, Zonal Head of the Paralympics and National & International Team Coach, and Mrs. Shweta Megeri, Principal of I-School Play Group & Nursery School. A valuable presentation session was conducted at V-Excel Learning Centre, focusing on therapeutic and educational approaches for children with special needs.
Ms. Pranati Tribhubvan presented on the Seven Lively Arts Theory based on the philosophy of Rudolf Steiner. She explained that education should not be limited to intellectual learning but must include artistic, practical, emotional, physical, and spiritual development. The session highlighted the holistic growth of the child through thinking, feeling, and doing (head, heart, and hands). She elaborated on the Seven Lively Arts—Music, Speech, Movement/Dance, Drama, Modelling (Clay Art), Drawing, and Painting and their role in enhancing motor skills, concentration, comprehension, communication, creativity, confidence, and social skills in children with special needs. Developmental stages, imagination, rhythm, experiential learning, and the importance of free play therapy were also emphasised.
Ms. Tanmai Mulay conducted the second presentation on Mindfulness Theory for children with special needs. She explained mindfulness as the non-judgmental awareness of the present moment, aimed at improving self-regulation, attention, and emotional resilience. She discussed key components such as training attention through focus on anchors like breathing or physical sensations, developing a beginner’s mind to observe emotions without immediate reaction, and using a trauma-sensitive approach that respects each child’s window of tolerance. The session highlighted the benefits of mindfulness for children with ADHD, Autism, anxiety, and learning difficulties, including reduced impulsivity, improved sensory processing, and reduced stress. Practical, child-friendly activities such as Belly Buddies, Glitter Jars, Senses Safari, and Mindful Poses were shared as effective adapted practices.
The session was informative, practical, and highly beneficial for educators working with children with special needs.
