Greetings from Early Intervention and the Remedial Unit!
TATTVA 2025
The annual Art Exhibition TATTVA took place on October 25th and 26th, showcasing incredible creativity and talent of individuals with special needs. Our Early Intervention and Remedial Unit lend their support in making the event visually stunning, with their remarkable decorative contributions. The team's creativity shone through in the beautiful streamers crafted for the backdrop and wall hangings, which added a vibrant touch to the venue. It was wonderful to witness the unit's enthusiasm and dedication.
Diwali Celebrations 2025
Diwali is the festival of lights and it is celebrated by Hindus, Sikhs, Jains and Buddhists. The festival symbolizes light over darkness, good over evil and knowledge over ignorance. Families clean their homes, light Diyas (Lamps) and wear new clothes. They get together to pray, make colourful Rangoli designs and exchange gifts and sweets.
The children in the Remedial classes and Early Intervention Unit learnt about Diwali. They enjoyed painting the Diyas and created flower designs with a pretend play Rangoli Kit. They enjoyed using their imagination to make sweets out of playdough. Some students made Murukku, Barfi, while some made Laddu and Samosa. It was a time with a lot of smiles and laughter.

Life is only a reflection of what we allow ourselves to see.
The second term started on October 3rd, the day after Vijayadashami. The school curriculum continues until December, along with Christmas celebrations. It is also the time, when monsoon comes to Chennai and the school attendance waxes and wanes.
Celebrations:
Vijayadashami – A Victory of the good over evil
On Friday, October 3rd, the second term in KLC started with the celebration of Vijayadashami, a small pooja, with distribution of prasadam to the students. The students were happy to be back in the familiar space as it brought in the regular rhythm and routine after the holidays.
Meshach’s Birthday:
Meshach joined KLC in 2015 when he was 6 years. Over the last 10 years of his journey with us, we have seen him grow going from strength to strength, along with his parents who have worked with him. Kaushik and Suja and his sister Keesha are a part of KLC’s family and have been there with us through thick and thin. In the coming year, this family will be moving away to the other side of Chennai, whereby Meshach must move from KLC. They wanted to celebrate his 16th birthday with the whole KLC family by providing lunch on October 7th. We had a community lunch and wished Meshach all the very best.
Diwali Celebrations:
17th October, Friday, was a time for the parents and families of our students to come together in the school premises, to celebrate a smokeless Diwali, with just lights, songs, food and companionship with all the teachers and staff of KLC. The space was made ready to welcome them, with lanterns, flowers, a beautiful Rangoli, seating arrangements and good food, by every member of KLC. We had over 200 people enjoy this evening, by lighting the diyas and placing them around the rangoli, with a short dance by a few students and beautiful music by Neha, friends, some parents, siblings, Vasudha and a group of enthusiastic singers.
The food, like in the years before, was sponsored by Mr. Subramaniam with his characteristic warmth and large heartedness. Deep gratitude and appreciation from all of us at KLC
Thank you so much for the wonderful celebration and delicious dinner. It was truly memorable for us as always❤️🤗
“Together” - by the Carnatic Quartet – Tarang
On October 16th, Thursday the talented quartet, Jeeva on Thavil, Karthikeyan on Nadaswaram, Shreya on the Electric Violin, and Praveen on Mridangam kept the audience entertained with lively, pulsating music. They got the students to interact with them by clapping and moving for the whole session. It was a wonderful experience to just listen to the sounds of instruments without interference.
TATTVA 2025 – An expression of the feelings:
Painting in KLC acts as a therapy for the students. The process, the environment, the therapist, along with the student’s work, plays an important role in how the final painting emerges. TATTVA 2025, for the 4th consecutive year, was the event organised by the Youth Empowerment Section (YES) of V-Excel Educational Trust, on 25th and 26th of October. It brought together 200+ paintings and photographs of many talented special artists, from various schools and individuals, at The Music College in R A Puram. KLC students had worked on 11 paintings and 8 photographs, which were submitted for displaying in this exhibition, which were well appreciated and sold.
Training – A journey of learning:
Parimal Pandit’s In-service:
On 24th October, Friday, Parimal had in-service training for the teachers. She worked through getting the teachers to play and talk on an inner reflection of their comfort zones, things that make them uncomfortable and what it is they carry as faculties for their destiny path! The journey with her has just begun, and we hope to have more such sessions with her.
Teaching – The training process:
On 27th, 28th and 29th October, a group of 9 teachers from Nashik, Solapur and Pandharpur centers of V-Excel, teaching various age groups came in for their yearly training program. Gita Bhalla and Neha Bharadwaj conducted the training along with Shashi, Kavita and Tamizhselvi. Classroom observations paved the way for interesting discussions on the philosophy, behaviour management, time tabling, movement, music, and hand work. The last day was spent in Sreyes (VTU) and Kaustubham (YES), and the teachers felt that they had felt enriched and opened themselves to new perspectives and ideas.

Diwali Celebration at V-Excel (18th October 2025):
The day seemed to be full of cultural richness and togetherness. The Diwali celebrations were so well-rounded with both spiritual and fun elements:
- The symbolic lighting of diyas and decoration of rangoli really captured the essence of Diwali. It’s wonderful how everyone participated in decorating the space and creating that festive spirit.
- The Diwali greetings exchange and sharing of sweets must have fostered a strong sense of camaraderie, especially with students and staff coming together in such a joyful way.
- Firecrackers, though they’re often a highlight of Diwali, can also be fun and exciting for all. It’s great that everyone got a chance to enjoy them in a safe and controlled environment.
Monthly Birthday Celebration (30th October 2025):
The tradition of celebrating birthdays collectively each month is such a great idea! It brings a lot of joy and strengthens bonds between staff, students, and trainees.
- The celebration of Mr. Venkatraman's birthday with a cake-cutting ceremony must have been a moment of shared happiness and positive vibes for everyone involved. Celebrating together helps create a community atmosphere, where everyone feels recognized and valued.

Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami
On October 1st, 2025, we celebrated Ayudha Pooja and Vijayadashami at our centre involving parents and children . Parents were warmly invited, and children actively participated by decorating the school with traditional mango leaf thoranams. As part of the rituals, pori and sundal were offered as prasadam and shared with all students, staff, and parents. Ayudha Pooja is a special day during Navaratri when we show gratitude by worshipping the tools, books, and instruments we use in daily life—reminding us that all work is sacred. Vijayadasami, also known as Dussehra, marks the victory of good over evil, symbolized by Goddess Durga’s triumph over Mahishasura and Lord Rama’s victory over Ravana. It is also considered an auspicious day to begin learning, known as Vidyarambham. Together, these festivals bring a sense of unity, reverence, and celebration.

Exploring love towards art:
The child's interest for art might reveal the close, intimate bond they have with artistic expression. In addition to doing paper crafts to create torans with various colours and patterns, our kids were thrilled to be painting diyas for the Diwali festival. It serves as a sensory exercise and improves our kids' ability to concentrate both visually and tactilely. They painted diyas with great enthusiasm and experimented with a variety of colours.
Diwali celebration:
Diwali is the "Festival of Lights," it is commonly known as Deepavali.
On Oct 17th, we celebrated Diwali by lighting the holy diyas that our kids had painted and by firing the green crackers. The centre was decorated with torans and crafts made by our young artists. Mrs. Lekshmi Ramesh graced the occasion by attending and sharing Diwali stories with the children.
Guests from Super Auto Forge HR, including Mr. Gnanakaran, Mrs. Sumathy, attended the Diwali Celebration and lighted diyas that added to the festive spirit. The occasion was made more special by providing sweets and snacks to all.
