V-Excel News
  • The Annual Sports Day was celebrated on 10th February 2007 at the Alphonso Corporation ground in Mandaveli. A lot of training was given by our teachers and therapists to make the children participate in this uniquely planned event. Mr. S. Ve. Sekar, MLA (Mylapore Constituency), who always extends his support to such causes, gave his whole hearted support for the event. Mrs. Nina Reddy, Joint Managing Director of Savera group of hotels graced the occasion. We owe our thanks to Britannia Industries Ltd., Lufthansa German Airlines and Rotaract Club of Vepery. It would have been really formidable for us to manage the funds for this mega event without their backing.
Academy of Teacher Excellence News
  • The ATE batch is currently engrossed in their 2-month course on Autism Spectrum Disorders conducted by Mrs. Mallika Ganapathy and Ms. Deepa Raghavan. The first session of the course was addressed by Mrs. Usha Ramakrishnan who also introduced the concept of learning through play to the special educators. The course is an intense one and the students are running around to keep up with their assignments and other schedules.
Kaleidoscope Learning Center (KLC) News
  • The annual Parent’s Day was held on 10th February with all the children participating in sports events and drills. The children looked spectacular in their embellished white sportswear with decorated hoops, long sticks and pompoms with Hawaiian garlands and wrist bands. All children enjoyed the practice sessions as well as the final display of musical movements. The event was a grand success and the parents enjoyed too with a special event in which they participated.
  • Later in the month the children participated in the cultural event organized by the vocational rehabilitation centre and the Rotary Club of Madras at the Kalaivannar Arangam at Chepauk.
  • Individual parent meetings were held in the last week of February with the principal and feedback was exchanged regarding the progress of each child.
V-Excel Remedial Center (VRC) News
  • Sports day formed the pivot of the February in VRC. Teachers, parents and children enthusiastically practiced for the events. All the events were specifically thought out and designed to suit, test and challenge the kids. It was a wonderful team effort that involved both our Mandaveli and Adyar centers.
  • We regret to share with you the news of the sudden demise of a dear colleague Shubhasini Ganesh. She was a valued and effective teacher. We sorely miss her at the Adyar center.
Bridges Learning Academy
  • Sports Day was a major event in the beginning of the month. The whole school worked towards the events which the children enjoyed and participated.
  • School went on as usual after sports: the increased heat by the end of the month hasn’t seen the children preferring indoor activities: they still seem to prefer their usual ball games in the sun.
Disha
  • The challenge of raising a child with special needs sometimes overshadows even the most significant success stories. On 24th February, the parents had an interactive session with our counselors Mrs. Saraswathi Suryanarayanan and Mrs. Parimal Pandit. A few parents came forward and shared their success stories as well as their continuing concerns. For instance, Pon Harish’s mother expressed that dealing with her child has been a learning experience for herself; she feels that the child had transformed her own personality - teaching her patience and tolerance.
