Nashik:
V-Excel Learning Center, the first satellite wing of V-Excel Educational Trust was set up in April 2011 at Nashik, Maharashtra, to provide inter-disciplinary care to children with developmental disabilities.
VLC Nashik helps children with a wide range of developmental disabilities including Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Cerebral Palsy, Learning Disability, Sensory Impairments, ADD/ADHD, language and communication disorders.
The services provided by VLC include Developmental Pediatric assessments, IQ Assessments, Psycho-educational assessments, Sensory Integration Therapy, Neuro Developmental Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Behavioral Therapy, Remedial Education and Parent Counseling. These therapies and services are imparted on a one to one basis. Nevertheless, the various professionals at VLC work as a team. Each professional works with the child individually, but meets with the rest of the team to review and compare findings, and to come to joint decisions with the family, on care and management of the child.
VLC is also involved in creating awareness, parent - training and advocacy through seminars and workshops.

Erode :
Our center in Erode opened in September 2012 thanks largely to the initiative taken by Deepa, the mother of one of our students from our Early Intervention Unit. She observed that there were hardly any therapy or special education services in Erode but that there were many children who needed these. The center offers Early Intervention and Remedial services to children with developmental delays and special learning needs.
The center is professionally staffed and has all the necessary equipment for occupational therapy and sensory integration, sponsored by Bally Cares, a social initiative of Bally Technologies.
The programs in Erode undergo periodic revisions, based on a child's progress and parent feedback. We do need much more parent interaction in Erode since general awareness is lower and professional guidance is much sought after. New cases for assessments come up and we need to strike a good balance of specialized resources at hand and need of the child. We also suggest home programs for a few.
At present around 50 children are getting interventions at our Erode Center. We are in a slight crunch for space and are unable to take in more children for therapy. However the children with us are showing good improvement and parents are happy with the program.
Many children would benefit from sponsorships for their intervention programs. Those interested, please write to us at info@v-excel.org, or click on the "Sponsor a Child" link on this website.

Tirunelveli :
Our center in Tirunelveli opened in April 2011 under the aegis of the Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham. It now serves about 60 students with learning difficulties and developmental disabilities. A combination of therapy and special education inputs is required and we have engaged professionals to offer these specialized services.
Unlike in our other centers, in Tirunelveli, we also work with children with Cerebral Palsy and other physical challenges given the dearth of specialized services for disabilities per se. While we work primarily with the 4-14 year age group, we now also have around 4-5 children above the age of 18 years. A proposal to start a vocational group is under discussion.
The biggest challenge here is the travel time taken for parents to bring in their children and we are considering a possibility of extending the session durations. We get many children from the villages around Tirunelveli to the center, but because of the long commutes to our center, we see many dropouts. The inability to pay for services and the commute is a severe hindrance as well. As with the other satellite centers, we continually look for sponsorships. Those interested, please write to us at info@v-excel.org, or click on the "Sponsor a Child" link on this website.

Solapur :
V-Excel Learning Centre in Nashik and Solapur are A SERVICE UNIT of V-Excel Educational Trust, a 15 year old organization dedicated to serving children and adults with special needs.
The centers have been an answer to many parents who were at a loss to know what to do with their child with physical and mental disabilities, since regular schools are unwilling to enroll them. The awareness among parents of special children in Nashik and Solapur seemed to be abysmally low. A reasonably good special school was out of their reach. Many parents could not see for themselves, the need for a special school for their child. So Nashik and Solapur were a perfect town to commence the undoubting mission of V-Excel, i.e. to start satellite centers in many small towns of India.
Our beneficiaries are special children in the age group of 4 to 14 years with developmental disabilities such as Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, slow-learners, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorders (ADD/ADHD), and Learning Disabilities like Dyslexia.
We presently provide three services mentioned below:
1. Early Intervention program, remediation and therapies for special children
2. Special School with young children with disabilities like Cerebral Palsy, Autism, Intellectual Disabilities, Slow-learners and Learning disabilities.
3. Vocational skill training (for 16 years and above)Causes we work on:
* Disabled
* Education
* Skill Development & LivelihoodWhy work with us
The awareness about the needs of special children in tier 3 towns like Nashik and Solapur is abysmally low. So it is important to advocate the need for early intervention at the grassroot level...For most children, sense organs work in a unified manner to carry stimuli to the brain. But in case of children with impairments, there is a lack of sensory integration which interferes with their normal functioning with varying intensity. This is known as dysfunction in sensory integration (D.S.I.). It is manifested through physical clumsiness and poor body awareness; hyper or hypo sensitivity of neuro-sensory functioning, delays in speech, language and/or motor skills; inappropriate response to touch, movements, sights or sounds; poor self care skills; activity level unusually high or low, very limited attention span; social and/or emotional difficulties, issues of self-esteem. When the process is disordered a number of problems in learning, motor skills and behavior may be evident. Further, child development research has established that the rate of human learning and development is most rapid in the preschool years. Timing of intervention becomes particularly important when a child runs the risk of missing an opportunity to learn during a state of maximum readiness. Parents have to be vigilant, especially in case of infants, toddlers, and very young children (i.e. children between 3-7 years of age), about various milestones in all aspects of their child's holistic development.
