Awareness Program on Disability

ATE started the 2014 events by first organizing the "Awareness Program on Disability" a 3-months distance mode course. The program currently has an enrolment of 15. This includes parents from EI and KLC and students from another organization Pudiyador. Among the participants is a couple, parents of a child with ASD, one of whom is a Medical Doctor. All participants have expressed that the content of the program has given them much-needed insight and information on disability and ways to understand children in a better manner. Already, two contact sessions have been conducted.

Training Program on Puppetry

A training program on "Puppetry" was arranged for teachers to introduce them to techniques in which this ancient art form of India could be used in classroom teaching. A two-day workshop was conducted on August 8-9, in which 6 teachers attended. Mr. Mohan of Pudiyador gave the teachers insights into imagining, story-telling, making paper puppets and putting up a puppetry show.

Disha - Our Parent Forum

"Disha" the parents forum's second meeting was also held this month. Parents were divided into two groups, one consisting of fathers and the other of mothers. Members of each group were told to share concerns about their child and future plans. The meeting established free, open and honest communication and was a great learning experience for everyone.
